이러한 선행 연구결과를 고려할 때 최근 10년간의 국내와 국외 연구를 살펴봄으로써 영유아 언어장애 관련 연구의 동향을 분석하고, 과거 10년 대비 국내 연구의 변화와 실태를 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 최근 10년간 영유아 언어발달 및 언어장애 관련 연구의 동향과 흐름을 분석하고, 국내 학술지인 Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD)와 국외 학술지인 JSLHR을 중심으로 연구 동향 간 차이와 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 통해 전반적으로 영유아를 대상으로 한 연구의 방향성을 살펴보고 국내의 연구방향을 제시하여 이후의 연구와 평가 및 중재에 대한 기초 자료를 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 Kim과 Hong (2008)의 연구를 바탕으로 2012년 1월부터 2021년 12월까지 국내외 두 학술지에 게재된 연구들 중에서 만 3세 이하의 영유아가 대상인 언어발달 및 언어장애와 관련된 연구들을 연구대상, 연구유형, 독립변인, 종속변인 측면에서 비교 분석하고 그 결과에 대해 논의하였다.
