ABSTRACT |
In the present study, a case of the acquired Hangul dyslexia is reported to provide information on cognitive processing of Hangul word recognition. Reading aloud tasks were administered to examine YKW’s reading ability. YKW had difficulty in reading nonwords aloud more than reading real-words aloud. It suggests that YKW’s nonword reading aloud deficit results from damage at the level of the grapheme-phoneme conversion. YKW is assumed to have a problem in his ability to convert the orthographic information to the phonological information. YKW’s reading aloud was performed by the retrieval of the stored representation of the phonological representation in the mental lexicon. These results support the dual route hypothesis in reading Korean words. |
